Kunstgarasjen Project Space
Opening Friday November 25th 7PM
The installation Showreel Obscura is a collaborative project between the artist Torild Stray and curator Kenneth G. Wikdahl.
In Showreel Obscura, Wikdahl presents 101 of Torild Stray`s artworks, part audiovisual and part physical installation including a sculpture, a circular painting and a large charcoal/collage on paper named: “Descending Into Darkness”
In the artist own words: ” I wanted to make an art project that emanates some of the political darkness that’s at a highpoint right now, juxtaposed by the Nordic winter light and its sublime dark beauty that deeply effects me. Human kind may overcome their struggles again and my work has new life embedded in it.”
Torild Stray works in painting, drawing and sculpture. She is based in Bergen and New York and her work was recently included in Inferno II curated by New York based curator Raul Zamudio at Pristine Gallery, Monterrey, Mexico. Strays most resent one person show “Scapes & Skulls” was held at Gallery Langegaarden, Bergen. Stray has been the recipient of many awards and scholarships, including a New York Times Scholarship and The Lower Manhattan Cultural Council Artist in Residence Program in The World Trade Centre.
Kenneth G. Wikdahl holds a BA in Fine Art and is managing director and curator at Galleri SE in Bergen, Norway that exhibit internationally known artists.
